Create Without the Wait

These Velocity Micro workstations combine the visualization and interactive design capability of NVIDIA® Quadro® GPUs and the high-performance computing power of NVIDIA® Tesla® GPUs into a single workstation. Tesla companion processors automatically perform the heavy lifting of photorealistic rendering or engineering simulation computation. This frees up CPU resources for the work they are best suited for – I/O, running the operating system and multi-tasking – and also allows the Quadro GPU to be dedicated to powering rich, full-performance, interactive design.

Visualize and Simulate on the Same System

Gone are the days when design and simulation had to be disjointed and performed on two separate systems. Tesla companion processors automatically perform the heavy lifting of photorealistic rendering, freeing up CPU resources for the work they are best suited for – I/O, running the operating system and multi-tasking – and allowing the Quadro GPU to be dedicated to powering rich, full-performance, interactive design.

How GPU Computing Works

Workstation PCWhile a CPU consists of 4 to 8 CPU cores, a GPU consists of 100s of smaller cores. GPU computing is the use of these GPU cores as a co-processor to accelerate CPUs, specifically for very high demand scientific and engineering applications, allowing them to operate together to crunch through the data in the application.

By utilizing the GPU’s massively parallel processing power and offloading some of the compute-intensive and time consuming portions of the code to the GPU’s cores, the GPU can exponentially accelerate applications running on the CPU. This massively parallel architecture is what gives the GPU its high compute performance. The result is the application power of a massive CPU-only cluster in a desktop form factor that consumes less power and increases performance 10x – 100x, solving equations in minutes instead of hours.
