How do I schedule and complete a Windows 7 back up of my files?

To complete a back up of Windows files :

  1. Click on the Start button and then click on the Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, click on System and Maintenance and then click on Back up and Restore.
  3. If you have not used this feature, Windows will prompt you to set up Back up. Follow the wizard.
  4. Select Back up Now.

Microsoft and Velocity Micro strongly recommend that files are backed up to a secondary internal hard drive or to an external hard drive. Writeable CDs or DVDs may be used if the files are small.

This type of back up copies personal files such as pictures, music, and documents.

This procedure is also used in Windows Vista.
