With Windows 10, Microsoft introduced the capability of snapping windows vertically, as well as 2&#215;2 and these keyboard shortcuts to go along with it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows Key + Left \u2013 Snap current window to the left side of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Right \u2013 Snap current window the the right side of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Up \u2013 Snap current window to the top of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Down \u2013 Snap current window to the bottom of the screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Task View Shortcuts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Task-Manager-Screenshot.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-932\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Task-Manager-Screenshot-1024x639.png\" alt=\"Windows 10 Keyboard Shortcuts\" width=\"700\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.velocitymicro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Task-Manager-Screenshot-1024x639.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.velocitymicro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Task-Manager-Screenshot-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/www.velocitymicro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Task-Manager-Screenshot.png 1683w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The traditional task view has been re-envisioned for Windows 10. To access, you can click the taskbar icon, or for the super hip, use these shortcuts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows Key + Tab \u2013 This opens, and keeps open, the new Windows 10 Task View. Displayed here will be your current open windows on your current virtual desktop. Click the + in the bottom right corner to create a new virtual desktop for even more fun.<\/li>\n<li>Alt + Tab \u2013 Press and hold these keys for the Windows task manager you\u2019re used to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Virtual Desktops<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The addition of Virtual Desktops is one of the cool new Windows 10 features we wrote about <a title=\"Top 5 Windows 10 New Features\" href=\"\/blog\/top-5-windows-10-new-features\/\">in an earlier article<\/a><strong>.<\/strong> To manage them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows Key + Ctrl + D \u2013 Create a new virtual desktop and switch to it<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Ctrl + F4 \u2013 Close the current virtual desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key + Ctrl + Left \/ Right \u2013 Switch to the virtual desktop on the left or right.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Command Prompt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For you Command Prompt geeks out there, Windows 10 has added much needed keyboard shortcut functionality to the interface to make your life easier. The following old standbys now work in the Command Prompt:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shift+Left \u2014 highlight text to the left of the cursor.<\/li>\n<li>Shift+Right \u2014 highlight text to the left of the cursor.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl+Shift+Left (or Right) \u2014 highlight blocks of text instead of just characters at a time.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl+C \u2014 copy selected text to the Windows clipboard.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl+V \u2014 paste text from the Windows clipboard into command prompt.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl+A \u2014 select all text after the prompt.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl + M \u2013 Enter \u201cmark mode,\u201d which helps for selecting text.<\/li>\n<li>Ctrl + F \u2013 Opens a Find dialog for searching the Command Prompt\u2019s output.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Display<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With some of the cool new visual aspects of Windows 10 comes keyboard shortcuts to go along with them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows Key+PrtScr \u2014 take a screenshot saved to your Pictures folder.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key+G \u2014 open the Game DVR recorder (if supported by your graphics card).<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key+Alt+G \u2014 start recording activity in the current window.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key+Alt+R \u2014 stop recording in the Game DVR.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key+P \u2014 switch between display modes (with a secondary display connected).<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key+plus \u2014 zoom in using the Magnifier utility.<\/li>\n<li>Windows Key+minus \u2014 zoom out using the Magnifier utility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Classics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Windows 10 has also integrated all of classic Windows keyboard shortcuts you\u2019ve come to know and love alongside these hip new ones.
