Velocity Micro Launches the Fastest PC and Workstation Platforms Ever

Richmond, VA — February 20, 2008 — Velocity Micro, the premier boutique builder of custom, high performance computers, notebooks, and workstations, announced today the launch of two ultra performance PCs powered by twin Intel® CoreT2 Extreme processors QX9775 - the ProMagix W260 workstation and the OverdrivePC Reference Edition gaming PC. By utilizing the improved capabilities, larger cache, and overclocking potential over the previous processor architecture, Velocity Micro continues a precedent of providing the latest in bleeding edge technology in its ultra performance PCs and workstations.

"Our job is to provide the very fastest computers available to satisfy the needs of the most demanding applications, and these two new systems fit that description perfectly" said Randy Copeland, president & CEO of Velocity Micro. "Whether it's for media creation, digital design, or extreme gaming, we create even faster computers for our high end customers constantly, and we are especially focused on quickly bringing this high-end performance level to our mainstream customers, as well."

The Velocity Micro ProMagix W260 is an extreme performance workstation, capable of unrivaled speed in multi-threaded digital media creation, computer aided design (CAD), and scientific applications. With a total of 8 CPU cores and 12MB of onboard cache, plus up to 8GB of memory and solid state hard drives, the W260 is capable of massive data throughput. Additionally, the platform will be offered with up to four distinct PCI-E graphics cards for either quad processing of a single large ultra-resolution display or support for up to eight separate monitors simultaneously. Liquid cooling of the processors and graphics is another option that will also be offered to increase thermal headroom and reduce noise. The ProMagix W260 will begin at a base of $3695.

For extreme gamers, the OverdrivePC Reference Edition will offer untouchable eight-core performance for maximum gaming intensity and realism. Sharing the same dual Intel Core 2 Extreme quad core processors QX9775 with the ProMagix W260, the Reference Edition has more horsepower than any previous PC for both gaming and multimedia creation. This system takes advantage of up to four graphics cards in either Nvidia SLI configuration or ATI CrossFire mode to produce the highest attainable frame rates ever delivered in the latest multi-threaded games. The system also features the ability to overclock the dual 3.2GHz processors to even higher speeds (if desired by the user) because the CPU overspeed protection has been removed for even faster performance. Other features of the platform that are leveraged by the Reference Edition are a 1600MHz frontside bus and up to 8GB of available memory with Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64-bit operating system. Custom paint jobs, liquid cooling and Hyperclocking (the company's unique method of advanced overclocking) will be available options. The OverdrivePC Reference Edition will be offered starting at a base of $7990.
