Velocity Micro Announces the Gamers' Edge™ 64 and Missionmax™ with the New AMD Athlon™ 64 FX Processor

Richmond, VA — September 23, 2003 — Velocity Micro today announced the introduction of the Gamer's EdgeT 64 gaming system and MissionMaxT 64 workstation, both powered by the new AMD AthlonT 64 FX processor.

The Velocity Micro Gamer's Edge 64 will provide technology for immersive gaming experiences and amazing digital media. The AMD Athlon 64 FX processor is the first 64-bit PC processor in a class by itself designed specifically for cinematic computing capabilities, allowing users to run the latest games with maximum performance. The MissionMax 64 is a workstation system designed for high-end productivity applications, digital multimedia creation, and entry level CAD. Typical buyers are small and medium sized business, architectural and engineering firms, government and military, digital video producers, and college research units.

"This product offering will allow our customers, the users demanding high performance from their computer system, to enjoy the latest technology in a Velocity Micro system," said Randall Copeland, founder and president of Velocity Micro. "The AMD Athlon 64 processor brings our customers the ultimate PC experience, which is a truly immersive computing experience. We expect it to also add value to the consumer due to the longer life expectancy we think the AMD64 architecture will permit."

The AMD Athlon 64 FX processor is tailor-made for gamers and other high performance enthusiasts. Users will enjoy faster digital video playback and editing in addition to 3-D modeling. Games have the potential to provide more lifelike appearances for such features as hair, skin and eyes, and the characters can have more realistic artificial intelligence. The AMD Athlon 64 FX processor will enable simultaneous 32- and 64-bit computing with increased bandwidth and reduced I/O bottlenecks for increased performance and better multi-tasking.

"Velocity Micro is working with AMD for the launch of the AMD AthlonT 64FX to provide an incredible gaming and high-performance workstation to our customers," said Tim Wright, director, desktop marketing, AMD's Computation Products Group. "The AMD64 platform is a natural extension of today's pervasive 32-bit software, so customers can enjoy flexibility as an added benefit to the extreme 64-bit processing power now available."

The company is taking orders for AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Athlon 64 FX processor-based systems beginning today. The production lead time for systems based on this technology is 14 to 21 days, which is similar to the production time for previous AMD Athlon processor-based systems.
