Velocity Micro Sets November Sales Record Fueled by Fourteen Major Computer Industry Awards in 2003

For the Holidays: Gaming, Digital Video, Mobile, and Small Business Customers Choose a High-Performance Computing Experience

Richmond, VA — December 1, 2003 — Richmond-based Velocity Micro today announced it set a November sales record for its high performance computer systems. The company said sales growth was fueled largely by increased marketing efforts and overwhelming recognition in business and consumer PC media, including an impressive 14 'Editor's Choice' awards and reviews from the premier computer industry publications in 2003. Among the latest, the Velocity Micro ProMagixT is featured as an Editor's Choice in PC Magazine's "Annual PC Blockbuster" (Issue #21) dated November 25th. A PC Magazine Editors' Choice Award is regarded as one of the highest honors in the personal computing industry.

With the 2003 holiday shopping season in its sights, the Virginia-based company has racked up one award after another. Along with the recent PC Magazine recognition, Velocity Micro received another Editor's Choice Award from the 1.2 million circulation magazine in October. The recognition is coveted by computer manufacturers because consumers use favorable reviews and product awards as an independent guide for purchasing decisions. Top industry publications including CNet, Computer Shopper, PC Gamer, Computer Gaming World, and Maximum PC have recognized Velocity Micro systems this year, establishing the company as a computer industry leader in the gaming, digital video, laptop, and small business segments.

"This holiday season, the ultimate high-performance computer experience comes from right here in Virginia, from some of the best talents in the entire computer industry," said Randall Copeland, founder and president of Velocity Micro. "We are dedicated to providing our customers from coast-to-coast with the highest quality, user-friendly systems at an affordable price, and we have 14 Editor's Choice awards and glowing reviews in 2003 to back that up. We are really proud of our accomplishments and truly excited by the tremendous momentum our hard work has created. We are on a roll!"

The industry recognition has fueled a tremendous growth in sales for the computer manufacturer in spite of a lackluster year for the PC industry. The company sells its custom-built systems directly from its website and through a reseller program for solution providers and affiliates. It said November sales will easily exceed Velocity Micro's previous best month by more than 25 percent.

The Velocity Micro RaptorT gaming system won an editor's choice award from CNET in November that featured the new Intel Extreme Edition processor. According to c|net, "The Raptor is just the system for bleeding-edge gaming and graphics applications."

The home and small business system, the Velocity Micro Vector VXT, was awarded recognition from Computer Shopper, Computer Gaming World, ZDNet, and PC Magazine for 2003. According to Computer Shopper, "the Vector VXT is well-configured with excellent components.and top-notch graphics add up to impressive performance to please the gaming, home, and small-office crowds."

In the laptop segment, the Velocity Micro NoteMagixT B50 won the Top Five laptop award in August. According to Computer Shopper, the NoteMagixT B50 is a system that "will chew through large spreadsheets and conquer games with ease."

With a steady stream of new orders coming in daily, Copeland said the best time to visit Velocity Micro's Website and place orders in time for holiday gift-giving is now. "I wouldn't wait," Copeland said, "although, ringing in the New Year with the ultimate high-performance computing experience sounds like another great gift idea."
