PC Manufacturer’s new store is first step in new retail direction.
Richmond, Va – August 8, 2005 - Velocity Micro™, a leading North American manufacturer of high performance PCs, announced today the opening of its first factory store at its headquarters. The store will feature Velocity Micro’s trademark high performance systems and the latest technology from its partners. The move into a traditional retail space is part of Velocity Micro’s new growth strategy.
“Going from selling systems exclusively on our website to moving into these new retail venues is an exciting step,” says Randy Copeland, Velocity Micro founder and President. “Our factory store will give the public the chance to look at and feel the systems and take our PCs on a test drive to learn more about them before they purchase.” Until now, the award winning PCs have been available exclusively from the company’s website: www.velocitymicro.com.
As part of a larger growth strategy, opening the factory store will give Velocity Micro a more traditional retail experience, which will be important in the coming months. By the end of August, select Velocity Micro pre-configured systems will be available in Best Buy stores across the country.
The factory store will also exhibit the latest technology from Velocity Micro’s partners, including AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, ATI, and Microsoft. Shoppers can expect to see dual core processor systems from AMD and Intel, SLI gaming technology from NVIDIA, and Microsoft’s media center edition for home entertainment systems. Gaming, home office, digital media, mobile, and business PCs will be available in the factory store.
Velocity Micro will sell systems direct from the factory as well as some discounted units returning from magazine reviews and tradeshows. The Velocity Micro factory store will be open from 10:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday and 10:00am to 4:00pm Saturdays.
